I started my first business in 2001 when I co-founded a little recording studio that ended up culminating in a national indie record label. My initial experience with business was entirely in the music industry and at every level. I was a performing artist, an engineer, a producer, a record exec: I’ve pretty much seen it all.
In fact, Justyn Paul Management, LLC was founded in April of 2003 so I could begin managing artists through my own brand rather than through our studio. I’ve considered renaming the company a number of times but have always come back around to just sitting with what I’ve got until a re-brand is really, REALLY necessary.
In 2006, around Christmas time, I departed the record industry in pursuit of something new. What that was, exactly, I had no idea. So I started wrapping up my undergraduate work and finally finished that up in June of 2009.I am currently working on my Masters of Information Systems.
Over the years a certain skill set emerged in that I tend to gravitate towards web-based technologies and IT in general. But you can’t take the entrepreneur out of me, so I tend to also find myself drawn to general business management as well.
Considering my past, it should be no surprise that I run a search engine optimization firm, my own music website, and this site for my general management endeavors. Over the next few years I will finish up my MIS and a law degree which should enable me to pursuit the IT-based ideas rolling around in my head.
I currently work for Central Research as their Marketing Manager. I develop new business opportunities and write lots of docs for RFPs from government agencies. Between my civilian experience and my new found goverment contracting knowledge I believe one day I will be able to put together a team of brilliant staffers and we’ll be as busy as we want to be.
In the meantime, lots of school and I’d better get back to that RFP I was working on…
