
I use screen sharing constantly to help support my clients and even family/friends. The truth is that technical language can be difficult to speak when you are not familiar with key terms. I’ve actually witnessed folks pointing at the screen, trying desperately to tell someone on the other end of the support phone line that the problem is “right there on my screen!”
That’s why screen sharing is so important. While they can’t point with their fingers, they can point with their mouse. I’ve found that the time it takes to launch screen sharing software is far less time that it takes to explain a problem.
I recently ran into a corporate instant messenger that has screen sharing built right into it! So, while I’m chatting with someone who needs help I can click a button and have instant screen sharing! This saves tons of time and allows me to stay off the phone and save a trip to someone’s desk or office.
